Protecting Our Environment
Here at Wine Cellars of Yorkshire we are passionate about limiting our impact on the environment. In our workshop we run it as efficiently as possible.
Waste - Very little waste leaves the workshop, our shavings are recycled by a local farmer, left over timber is utilised for small projects and plaques and in the cooler months some of the off cuts we can’t use are burned in our wood burner to keep the staff warm and all our lighting has been changed to LED which saves on power.
Timber Supply - We obtain timber supplies from FSC and PEFC certified sustainably managed forests.
Our Paints - The paints we use vary from low odour solvent based products to the latest water-based paints and lacquers depending on the project. We offer a colour match service of various paint manufacturers colours such as Farrow and Ball, Little Green or Paper and Paint Library
New Showroom - We are currently working on a brand new showroom which will open in 2021. All customers are welcome to visit the workshop where we have samples and there will always be a project on the go to view the quality of our workmanship. This also a chance to see where it all happens!
Plant A Tree Initiative - We are super proud of our newest environmental policy initiative. Our Plant a Tree Initiative see us planting a tree for every project we complete. So, once a project is complete, we will plant a tree, the trees will be planted to create pockets of woodland in the area with native hardwoods. Our aim is to grow lots of trees.
Carbon Neutral - As timber is renewable, we feel it is only right that we replenish what we have used. It is especially important we now give back more than we take. We are aiming to be Carbon neutral by 2025, who knows we may even make it to carbon negative!
